Prem Baby Development
Rolling in a Cot?
I am very lucky with my son, he wakes for a bottle at around 7am. Will watch his cot mobile while I take a shower and get ready for work, then drift back to sleep for an hour to an hour and a half. As I work from home, this gives me time to do some early morning work before our Nanny arrives at 10am.
However the little man has learnt a new trick, he can now roll from his back to his stomach. This morning while I was in the shower he did this in his cot, got his head stuck under the cot mobile and his foot through the cot bars.
I have moved the mobile, but am so worried that he will put his leg through the bars, try to roll back and break his leg, or hurt himself in some way.
Is there anything I can do to keep him on his back whilst in the cot?
He is 9 months old, but as a prem Baby this is really 7 months for development.
Thank you.
Both my daughters went through the phase where their legs kept getting through the bars, you’ll be happy to know that it only lasts a few weeks.
One thing I did was weave receiving blankets through the bars so that their little limbs couldn’t get stuck.
The also have “breathable” bumper pads that will help contain any stray legs or arms. I just couldn’t afford it, so I used the blankets.
Good luck!
